I don’t think I ever did a post on Em’s lamp.
When doing her room I fell in love with this lamp but having just sold/bought a house we were on an extremely tight budget. So when I stumbled upon these crepe paper flowers from the Idea Room a light went off in my head to use the crepe roses to decorate a lamp on a budget.
In order to have roses that are uniform in size, it is important to cut the streamers all the same length. I believe I used 24 inches per rose.
I tightly rolled 2 inches of the streamer and then let it unroll and pinched it in the middle to make the center of the rose. Then I twisted and folded the streamer around the center roll adding a little dab of hot glue every 4-6 inches for added strength. To make the roses lay flat I cut off the little stem that was formed as you wrap the streamer around and then hot glued it to the shade.
Total cost for base, shade, and streamers was $22 while the Pottery Barn version cost $151!
